2012-2014
Marketing and Design
Marketing, design, illustration, and content development
This time period marks an era of creative contribution using illustration, photography, design, content development and branding for a variety of clients.
As marketing manager for a fast-growing nationwide cell tower and generator supplier I managed a creative staff of writers and designers. Our team generated twice-weekly email blasts, weekly blogs, and conducted daily search engine optimization techniques to ensure our site ranked higher than competitors. Since this was a young company with a newly formed sister company, corporate identity and branding were top priorities.
My contribution, in addition to weekly marketing goals and reporting, was to provide direction for marketing materials, oversee site redesign, fleet graphics, trade show displays, and branding. I illustrated the company Christmas card (fun!) which featured cell tower building in a snow globe. I was also responsible for public relations, and successfully obtained local media coverage for ribbon cuttings in both print and television news coverage.

Children’s book illustration
2012-13 marked a period of children’s book illustration, both digital and hand painted.

Toys made from repurposed packaging
In 2012 I launched the StickerSkinz website. This site featured downloadable (or mailable labels) designed to fit product packaging. This way kids could affordably collect the discarded packaging they needed for their vision, and StickerSkinz provided the instant cool looking graphics. The conecpt allowed children to easily create the kinds of play set scenarios they wanted most, for their favorite characters.
Play scenarios are lacking in the toy industry, and when they exist, they’re often not recycleable. They’re bulky, and often made of blow molded plastics, which don’t look good without the labels! StickerSkinz uses our toy-themed labels to dress ordinary discarded items, and breathe new life into used boxes and packaging.
The concept in 2012 was too early. I started a Kickstarter campaign (at a time when only game nerds dominated Kickstarter). Americans weren’t much into repurposing in 2012, however people in the UK were very interested in the product. We received a write-up in a parenting magazine.

My experience is varied, however my focus has always been creating tools which result in tangible sales. It's my hope that my background can help a manufacturing company increase sales based on marketing communications, working hand-in-hand with product development, customer satisfaction, and forecasting customers' needs.
